Five women. One stage. Unapologetic honesty.

When five women start talking about sex — and then invite the audience to guide some improv— what could possibly go wrong?

Only everything… and delightfully so.

Maria, Francesca, Shawn, Sara and Trish connected through Chicago’s storytelling scene, and a fast friendship was born. When they met Liz, it was kismet. She brought improvisation into their writing, and suddenly it was like the stories had a double espresso – they became bolder, riskier and sexier.

In a world that still insists on whispering about sex, these women have decided to raise the volume. It’s time to shine a light on the fascination and foibles of figuring out one of our most basic and yet complicated needs.

Whether you’ve loved, lusted, lost, sworn it off, or are simply taking notes for later, you’ll find yourself drawn into these personal narrative stories of love, loss, faith, freedom, and a few things your mother probably didn’t cover.

It’s smart. It’s bold. It’s a little wicked.

Director

Shawn Murray

Shawn Murray has dabbled in many crafts for many years.
But we’re not going to talk about that now. Shawn has kept herself amused making films, acting, songwriting, storytelling and most recently and forever, improvising. One of her life goals is to make at least one person a day smile, laugh or blush.

Hailing from the mean streets of Midwestern suburbia, Patricia Weidig has seen some things—most of them from the front of a public-school classroom. You may have caught Patricia on stage at Outspoken, VoiceBox, StoryLab, Funny-Ha-Ha and various open mics where she shares stories about how she generally tries to do the right thing but still manages to mess up often enough to keep things interesting. Patricia has written a handful of articles about sex for Queer Forty Magazine, which might make it seem like she knows a thing or two. She doesn’t.

Sara is a freshly retired middle school teacher who discovered the Chicago storytelling world in 2023 and knows she has found her people. She attends as many events as she can as a listener, and cut her teeth on stage at VoiceBox, Storylab, Let Me Tell You, and open mics, which she thinks should be called open hearts. She has titles for several books she will probably never write, including "My Therapist Dumped Me," "People who Ruin it for Everyone," and "Storytelling is my Jesus: I wish you could know it, too." As for sex, the neighbors are having a hard time looking her in the eye...

Francesca is a recovering public-school teacher who enjoys using her teaching voice for those cars who ignore Pedestrian Crossing signs. A multi-MothSlam winner, and GrandSlam winner (Brooklyn, 2025) she lives in Chicago but travels to Brooklyn and Nantucket as much as possible to visit her adorable grandchildren. Francesca wonders why we don’t talk about sex more since, well, that is how we ALL started. Director of the Chicago solo story Dealbreakers by Lauren Kee, Francesca also loves to tell stories and helping others tell their story. francesca sobrer.com

Maria has told stories on various stages in the Chicagoland area, as well as for the National Storytelling Festival and Chicago’s Fillet of Solo. Her various work experiences have allowed her to view life through different lenses. She enjoys the transformative energy of storytelling, and as she blends past and present impressions, she offers stories that are sometimes mystical, often deeply personal, always entertaining. She holds a master’s degree in Adult Education, not sex education although having been an educator she could share a few lessons. If it’s true that we make choices before we are born, she’s happy she chose Chicago.
